Recently, the "Key Technology and Complete Equipment for High Quality and Efficient Friction Stir Welding of Thin Wall Curved Aluminum Alloy" project jointly completed by Guangzhou Risong Intelligent Technology Holding Co., Ltd., China Ukraine Welding Research Institute of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, China Shipbuilding Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., China Aviation Manufacturing Technology Research Institute, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Beijing Ailupu Technology Development Co., Ltd. won the honor of China Machinery Industry Federation The second prize of the 2022 National "Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award" of the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering.
 
Previously, the award-winning project passed the achievement appraisal, and the appraisal opinion indicated that the project is technically difficult and innovative, with independent intellectual property rights, and the overall technology has reached the international advanced level. Among them, the friction stir welding process inclination compensation and welding force position hybrid control algorithm, as well as high strength and toughness stir head materials, have reached the international leading level.
 
In response to the technical difficulties of current friction stir welding equipment such as difficulty in achieving three-dimensional curved surface welding, poor welding accuracy, short life of the stir head, and low efficiency in welding process development, the project team systematically conducts key technical breakthroughs such as the design and development of a flexible high-performance spindle system, multiple information fusion and high-precision control of the welding process, the development of high strength and toughness materials for the stir head, and the design of a large aspect ratio structure, as well as intelligent optimization and engineering application of welding processes, It is planned to form technological and theoretical innovations in new materials, core components, welding process control, welding specialized software, and achieve industrial applications in aerospace, shipbuilding, new energy vehicles, and other fields.
 
Currently, the project has achieved engineering applications in domestic aircraft auxiliary fuel tanks, aerospace, large aluminum alloy ship wall panels, new energy vehicle battery trays, water cooled radiators, and other products. In particular, the first application of high-quality and high-precision friction stir welding equipment technology for aluminum alloy complex curved surfaces in aircraft auxiliary fuel tanks has significant potential economic benefits. At the same time, it provides important technical support for major needs such as China's national defense construction and national economy, with significant social benefits.
